Sr. MS SQL DBA

Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for a Sr. MS SQL DBA. This position involves providing specialized database support, optimizing performance, and ensuring the security and reliability of critical systems vital to various lines of business.

Pay rate range (CAD): $71.01/hr – $85.22/hr

• Take ownership of and lead technical resolutions for production incidents on MSSQL and Oracle databases
• Communicate complex technical issues clearly to stakeholders and business partners
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards for change control and database security policies
• Analyze recurring incidents and recommend service improvements
• Support on-call rotations, including incident response and customer support
• Participate in incident management, scheduled disaster recovery, and SCM activities
• Conduct post-mortem analyses and root cause investigations of critical incidents
• Install, configure, and maintain MSSQL and Oracle databases
• Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource management
• Implement security best practices including user access control, encryption, and auditing (TDE, Data Redaction, Database Vault, Always Encrypted)
• Design and support high availability (RAC, HA) and disaster recovery strategies
  
  Automate routine database monitoring and maintenance tasks

• 5-7 years of experience with Azure Cloud databases, focusing on MSSQL
• 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL
• Proven experience with setup, installation, and configuration of database products
• Strong skills in query tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring database issues
• Hands‑on cloud migration experience
• Knowledge of database backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
• Familiarity with database security features and best practices

• Experience with Service Now Ticketing System
• Knowledge of Solar Wind Performance Monitoring Tools
• Azure Certification(s)
• Financial Industry (FI) experience
