Role OverviewSenior Associate – Control Tester in the Risk Office Testing Team will conduct control testing to assess the effectiveness of control activities across Canada, ensuring compliance with Capital One’s Control Standard and applicable policies.
Key Responsibilities- Support testing activities by providing subject‑matter expertise on control testing and risk management.
- Lead or support the execution of control tests to evaluate design and operating effectiveness of control activities.
- Collaborate with business partners, review documentation, and gather information for control testing.
- Manage testing activities and schedules, ensuring timely completion and reporting.
- Analyze data to identify issues and trends in the Canadian control environment.
- Execute control testing across manual and automated controls, utilizing SQL queries when appropriate.
- Maintain solid relationships with business and second‑line partners.
- Assist in creating reporting and communication materials for business partners and senior management.
- Support strategic risk projects as assigned.
- Stay updated on risk‑management trends, best practices, and regulatory guidance.
- At least 3 years of financial consumer compliance monitoring, consumer compliance auditing, or third‑party/vendor assessment experience.
- Experience preparing and writing business documents such as leadership presentations, briefing memos, and reports.
- Familiarity with Canadian regulators (OSFI, OPC, FCAC) and credit‑card‑related regulations.
- Basic data analysis and scripting experience (SQL, Python).
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Certification or accreditation in Compliance, Risk Management, Legal, or related fields.
- Working knowledge of cloud data structure, including Snowflake.
- Experience creating and reviewing test scripts using SQL/Python for full‑population testing.
- Working knowledge of French.
- Strong leadership skills and capabilities.
- Evident strategic thinking.
- Familiarity with credit‑card business practices and operations.
Annual salary range: $94,800 to $108,200. Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include discretionary or non‑discretionary cash bonuses.
Benefits include hybrid work flexibility (3 days in the office), a one‑time Work‑From‑Home allowance, full coverage for spouses, domestic partners, and dependents, up to $3,000 mental health coverage, and up to $5,000 tuition subsidies per year.
