AWS Data Engineer – Netezza Migration

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days/week onsite)

Duration: 12 Months

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Data Engineer with strong expertise in data warehousing, AWS cloud services, and legacy data migration (IBM Netezza) . The candidate will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions for a large enterprise banking environment.

This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring deep technical expertise in AWS data services, ETL/ELT processes, and data architecture design.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows on AWS
Build and manage data lakes (S3) and data warehouses (Redshift)
Develop ETL/ELT processes using AWS Glue, Lambda, and Spark
Work with batch and streaming data ingestion (including Kafka-based pipelines)
Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and loading performance
Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards
Monitor, troubleshoot, and support data pipelines in production

Automate deployments using CI/CD pipelines
Support migration of legacy systems (IBM Netezza) to AWS
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather data requirements and build reusable design patterns
Perform unit testing and support QA, SIT, and performance testing
Ensure smooth production deployment and stability of data solutions

IBM Netezza (migration experience required)

Required Experience

8+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Warehouse development
Strong experience in Banking / Financial domain preferred
Hands‑on experience in AWS cloud data engineering stack
Experience working in enterprise‑scale data environments
Strong understanding of ETL frameworks and data architecture patterns

Preferred Skills

Kafka / streaming data processing
CI/CD pipelines for data platforms
Performance tuning and cost optimization in AWS
Experience working in regulated enterprise environments (BFSI)
