We are looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst with deep payments domain expertise to join a financial services technology team in Toronto. You will bridge business and technology teams to deliver secure, scalable payment solutions for commercial and corporate clients.
What you'll do
- Translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications
- Lead requirements elicitation sessions through workshops, interviews, and document analysis
- Analyze end to end payment flows including initiation, validation, posting, settlement, and exception handling
- Prepare and maintain business requirement documents, functional specifications, and user stories
- Provide subject matter expertise in Interac eTransfer, account transfers, and treasury cash management
- Support enhancements related to real-time payments, payment tracking, and exception handling
- Collaborate with architects on API-based integrations, payment rails, and downstream systems
- Analyze and document data models, message formats, and interface contracts
- Work within Agile Scrum teams to decompose epics into features and user stories
- Support quality assurance and user acceptance testing including defect triage and root cause analysis
- Contribute to release planning and go-live readiness activities
What you bring
- 7 or more years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in financial services or technology environments
- Strong experience in payments systems including Interac eTransfer, domestic payments, or treasury cash management
- Deep understanding of the Canadian payments ecosystem, payment lifecycle, and settlement processes
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, JSON, SQL, and data analysis
- Familiarity with event-driven and message-based integration architectures
- Experience working in Agile Scrum delivery environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time or near real-time payment platforms
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern digital architectures
- CBAP or Agile certification
Work setup
- 6 to 12 month contract based in Toronto, ON
- 4 days onsite per week, non-negotiable
- Mandatory background check required before onboarding
