Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Role

The Crypto team helps shape some of Wealthsimple's highest-priority product and business decisions, from onboarding and trading to engagement, retention, and new product development. As part of the broader Data Science & Engineering (DSE) organization, we partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to use experimentation, analytics, and strong product thinking to build crypto products that are accessible, intuitive, and trustworthy for millions of clients.

We're looking for a Senior Product Data Scientist to help shape the future of Wealthsimple's crypto experience through strong product thinking, analytical rigor, and close cross-functional partnership. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to identify opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs, and influence product and business decisions.

This role exists to help the team better understand customer behaviour, measure impact, and focus on the problems that matter most. You won't just support decisions, you'll help shape them by proactively surfacing insights, identifying opportunities, and helping bring clarity to complex product questions. This is not a data/ML engineering role. While you will build data pipelines and occasional models, your primary output is high-quality business decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Operations to inform and shape product strategy, prioritization, and decision-making
  • Develop metrics, data models, and analytical frameworks that improve how teams understand customer behaviour and business performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, growth, retention, and operational efficiency through data
  • Translate complex business questions into clear recommendations and actionable insights
  • Proactively surface trends, risks, and opportunities that help the team focus on the highest-impact work
  • Collaborate with Analytics Engineering to improve the quality, scalability, and usability of data foundations for the team
Requirements
  • 5+ years experience working in data science, product analytics, experimentation, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills using SQL and Python
  • Ability to influence product or business decisions through data and clear communication
  • Strong product thinking and the ability to connect customer behaviour to business outcomes
  • Comfort working cross‑functionally and building strong relationships across disciplines
  • Familiarity with experimentation and causal inference methods
  • Exposure to DBT or modern data modelling tooling
  • Knowledge of fintech, investing, or crypto products
  • Experience using AI tools to improve analysis, communication, or decision‑making workflows
Who You Are
  • You're curious and proactive, and you look beyond the immediate ask to identify opportunities for impact
  • You're comfortable working through unclear problems and helping teams create clarity
  • You balance analytical rigor with pragmatism and good judgment
  • You communicate thoughtfully and adapt well to different audiences
  • You value collaboration and work well with people across different functions and perspectives
  • You're excited to learn new domains and tackle unfamiliar problems
  • You care about building products that genuinely improve clients' financial lives
Benefits
  • Top‑tier health benefits and life insurance
  • Long‑term group savings with employer match, through Wealthsimple for Business
  • 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days per year
  • 90 days away: work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year
  • Employee resource groups, including Rainbow (2

SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS
  • Hybrid team with over 1,500 employees across North America
Compensation

CA $151,000 - CA $189,000
