Cybersecurity Analyst
ABOUT THE PROJECTOur client is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to support Ontario Cybersecurity Higher Education, working directly with universities and colleges across Ontario. This role combines strategic cybersecurity advisory services with hands‑on operational support, helping member institutions strengthen their cybersecurity posture, improve governance, manage risk, and enhance incident preparedness. This is an excellent opportunity for a cybersecurity professional with experience in Ontario’s higher education sector who enjoys collaborating with diverse stakeholders and supporting community‑wide cybersecurity initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIESIn this role, you will support participating universities and colleges with cybersecurity programs, roadmaps, risk management activities, and security initiatives. You will work closely with institutional stakeholders, security teams, and industry partners to deliver cybersecurity guidance, facilitate knowledge sharing, and strengthen security capabilities across the community.
REQUIREMENTS- 5+ years of experience in Cybersecurity and/or Information Technology
- Direct experience supporting a university, college, or higher education institution in Ontario
- Experience with cybersecurity governance, risk management, and security program development
- Working knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and CIS Controls
- Experience conducting security assessments, risk assessments, or security control reviews
- Experience supporting incident response, recovery planning, and security operations activities
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, attack methods, threat actors, and emerging trends
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- CISSP or other relevant cybersecurity certification
- Experience conducting tabletop incident response exercises
- Experience with penetration testing, red teaming, or security validation activities
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and technical security controls
- Experience developing cybersecurity presentations, webinars, or educational content
- Familiarity with ITSM processes including Incident, Change, and Service Request Management

Hybrid flexible– Ontario. Duration: 6‑month contract‑to‑hire.

Work hours:
37.5 hrs/week.
The average hourly pay range for this field is as follows: $50–$55/hr this role is intended to convert to a full‑time, permanent role, following the initial contract engagement. Compensation is commensurate with these standards; exceptions may apply based on experience, skills, and market conditions.
