Overview
A private college is seeking qualified PhD-level faculty to teach in its Bachelor of Applied Cybersecurity program. We are looking for academically qualified cybersecurity professionals with teaching, research, and/or applied industry expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Information and Network Security
- Software and Database Security
- Cloud, Mobile and IT Security
- Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking
- Digital Forensics
- Security Operations and Incident Response
- AI and Machine Learning for Cybersecurity
- IoT and Mobile Device Security
Successful candidates will contribute to a degree-level learning workplace that prepares students for the complex technical, ethical, and operational challenges of the cybersecurity field. Faculty may be involved in course delivery, student support, assessment, curriculum development, and applied learning activities.
Ideal candidates- A completed PhD or doctorate in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security, Digital Forensics, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more cybersecurity specialization areas
- Post-secondary teaching experience, preferably at the degree level
- Industry experience, applied research experience, or relevant professional certifications considered an asset
- A commitment to student-centred teaching, academic rigour, and professional preparation
- Teaching degree-level cybersecurity courses in one or more areas of specialization
- Supporting student learning through regular academic guidance, feedback, and student-centred instruction
- Supervising student research, applied projects, capstone projects, and other major academic assignments
- Guiding students in the development of: research questions; project proposals; technical designs; literature reviews; cybersecurity analyses; implementation plans; final presentations and reports
- Ensuring that student research and capstone work demonstrates appropriate academic rigour, technical accuracy, and professional relevance
- Evaluating student work according to established rubrics, course outcomes, and degree-level expectations
- Providing timely, constructive, and academically meaningful feedback to support student improvement
- Ensuring that student projects comply with appropriate academic, ethical, privacy, and cybersecurity standards
- Supporting the development of evidence-based solutions to applied cybersecurity problems
- Contributing to curriculum development, course review, and ongoing program improvement
- Advising on course content, assessment methods, applied learning activities, and emerging developments in the cybersecurity field
- Helping ensure that the curriculum remains current in areas such as: information and network security; software and database security; cloud, mobile, and IT security; penetration testing and ethical hacking; digital forensics
