The Senior Cloud Security Engineer, Cloud and Application Security Engineering will be responsible for providing technical leadership within a diverse team of cloud security engineers, leveraging industry leading SDLC processes to support application security tools and infrastructure mandated by Cloud Security in their mission of protecting the Bank and its customers from external threats.
Contributes to the overall success of the Cloud Security Engineering team in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you?In this role, you will:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance in a team environment spanning multiple geographies to support Cloud and Application Security toolsets.
- Innovate and automate to reduce manual processes used to support Security toolsets.
- Support Cloud and App Sec SLAs using DEV Ops skill sets to solution and resolve across an application stack on prem, private cloud and public cloud.
- Support integration of Cloud and Application Security tooling with DevOPs pipelines across the bank.
- Work across teams including engineering, external vendors, and technology teams to maintain security compliance and software currency within the tools and infrastructure.
- Champions a support team to customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Define and Implement SDLC processes and best practices used across engineering and security dev ops teams.
- Manage team deliverables by collaborating with technology partners, vendors, and governance teams to meet application security tooling roadmaps.
- Collaborate with vendors and technology teams to maintain security compliance and software currency within our tools and infrastructure.
- Drive continuous improvement by contributing to creation, collection and reporting on KPIs, identifying efficiencies, and assisting the team in their deliverables.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Ensuring the continuous protection and reliability of Cloud and Application security tools used by global code delivery channels, alternate platforms, and legacy systems, while meeting defined security & service objectives.
- 5+ years experience leading Dev Ops Engineering teams using Agile and SDLC methodologies.
- Hands‑on experience with System Administration and Dev Ops support of Linux, Windows, SQL, and vendor software.
- Experience in authoring and updating Software Architecture and Technical Documentation for complex solutions.
- Excellent organization, time management, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
