Software Developer – Back End

Description

The successful candidate is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between the standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks), every Monday to Friday inclusive, at the identified OPS office location — 222 Jarvis St. Toronto.

Responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes: developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests. Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversions.

• Experience in design, code, test, debug and document applications

• Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using query languages

  Knowledge and experience with developing all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensure high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end
• Knowledge and experience with front-end technologies
• Knowledge and experience to integrate the front-end elements into the application

• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet ready applications
• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
• Experience with middleware and gateways
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging
• Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve any post-implementation technical issues
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project team
• Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
• Ability to provide user and system documentation as required

Programming / Development skills 40%

• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in developing N-tier enterprise application.
• 10+ years of demonstrated experience in developing using .Net frameworks, C#.
• Demonstrated experience with API (Back-end) development

Technical Skills 35%

• Demonstrated experience of developing applications using Angular, Material Design.
• Demonstrated experience of web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Demonstrated experience working with .Net Framework – MVC, Web services, Web API.
• Demonstrated experience in development & debugging experience on Microsoft Azure App services.

Other skills 25%

• Demonstrated experience of writing SQL and Stored Procedures (preferably in MS SQL Server and Cosmos DB)
• Demonstrated user-experience (UX) design to ensure a great user-centered experience, iterate it in accordance with user-testing.
• Demonstrated experience of using Agile Methodologies.
