Position Summary
The SEO/GEO Director works with the account team to provide research, strategy, implementation, campaign management, and reporting on client campaigns. They plan, consult on and implement SEO/GEO best practices for a client base spanning multiple industries and verticals. They stay up to date on the latest search engine and AI updates and apply knowledge of marketing strategy and search engine marketing concepts.
The SEO/GEO Director leads a team of SEO Strategists and Specialists.
- Planning and Management of Client Programs – Provide strategic leadership to the SEO subject matter experts on your team, develop and implement plan objectives, set SEO/GEO goals, perform target audience research, conduct keyword and topical research, carry out full SEO/GEO audits with recommendations for URL structure, navigation, canonicalization, interlinking, AI‑readiness, HTML & XML sitemaps, robots.txt, meta tags, social SEO recommendations, troubleshoot errors, and report program status to account and client teams.
- Optimization – Ensure all relevant websites and internet properties are technically optimized to attract and engage the target audience and are appropriately set up for visibility from LLMs. Collaborate with the content strategy team to suggest content improvements for SEO and GEO traction.
- Analysis – Monitor key metrics using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Authoritas, SEOclarity, and others) to assess opportunities and issues.
- Industry Knowledge – Keep updated on search marketing industry by researching, networking, reading blogs, forums, and new sources; share knowledge of SEO/GEO practices into the business.
- Minimum 4-6 years of online marketing experience in a lead SEO role, preferably in an agency environment.
- In-depth understanding of search engine ranking and LLM citation process.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, PHP, CSS, and web standards; ASP.NET knowledge is a plus.
- Highly organized, self‑starter, able to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Deep experience in all elements of modern SEO/GEO; demonstrated ability to improve search rankings through application of SEO best practices.
- Experience writing and evaluating copy for SEO purposes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SEO tools (Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Bright Edge, SEOMOZ tools, Advanced Web Ranking, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use analytics to identify issues and opportunities.
