Position Overview
Project Manager (PM) – responsible for planning, delivery and execution of projects for the entire delivery life cycle, applying established TMX standards and best practices. The PM plays a leadership role to ensure projects are successfully delivered on time, on budget, with good quality while making certain clients are put first and the goals of the program are met. This role is hybrid (2–3 days/week in the office) – based in Toronto, ON.
Key Responsibilities- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management and identify key drivers and measurements used to evaluate project upon completion.
- Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
- Create an integrated plan that details how scope, schedule, costs, communications, resources, dependencies, risks/issues, quality, change vendors (where applicable) and other key aspects will be managed.
- Develop a detailed schedule for the project, sequencing activities and allocating resources.
- Review the project schedule with senior management and all affected staff, revising as required.
- Execute the project according to the integrated plan.
- Closely monitor approved project budget, scope and timelines; action variances on a timely basis, leveraging standard project change request processes.
- Ensure that all project information is appropriately documented, approved, and stored centrally.
- Monitor progress and adjust course where required, escalating where appropriate.
- Provide regular project status and steering committee reporting as per established TMX standards.
- Lead the project team in re‑estimating effort and costs at the appropriate gates, obtaining approval on any revisions.
- As a member of the PM Chapter, keep documentation on the project management life cycle (PMLC) processes up‑to‑date and relevant.
- Enhance templates and processes to improve audit objectives and streamline project delivery.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Information Technology projects, including Cloud implementations.
- Experience with end‑to‑end project delivery (managing both business and IT phases) of projects in excess of $2M.
- Experience managing HR, Legal and Finance work streams for IT projects.
- University/undergraduate degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience within the financial services industry.
- Ability to navigate and deliver within a fully matrixed environment that is complex and somewhat ambiguous.
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to motivate and effectively manage teams.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience delivering projects using SDLC, iterative and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent relationship building and partnership orientation.
- Prior experience working with regulators and external clients.
- PMP certification.
- Migration to Google Suite.
- Experience using Workday as a PPM.
- Projects involving in‑house development, third‑party applications, on‑premise and cloud platforms.
Salary Range: $100/h – $120/h CAD (guideline only; actual offer may vary).
