Position: Project Manager / Scrum Master

What is the Opportunity?

The Global Payments Technology (GPT) Team is seeking a Project Manager / Scrum Master to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting junior to intermediate-level role where you'll combine Agile delivery leadership with portfolio management and analytics responsibilities. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with delivery teams, vendors, and product owners on strategic initiatives in Payments while supporting portfolio planning, financial tracking, and leveraging cutting-edge AI tools to enhance project delivery excellence.

GPT provides services to Canadian and US Banking, Global Transaction Banking, Capital Markets, Caribbean Banking, Wealth Management, Investor Services, and internal functions such as Fraud and AML. Our services include project delivery for our business, operations teams, subject matter expertise in Payments and management of critical payments applications. The group supports SWIFT and High Value wire payments and supporting capabilities.

What will you do?

Project Delivery & Agile Leadership
  • Lead small to medium-sized delivery teams through Agile practices and Continuous Delivery concepts
  • Excel in Project Delivery by establishing and maintaining effective project routines, facilitating and planning ceremonies in line with Agile Management Framework (AMF)
  • Display leadership skills through stakeholder management, dependencies management (internal and external), and informative quality presentations
  • Demonstrate organizational skills through facilitating agile ceremonies, sprint planning, retrospectives, and reporting
Portfolio & Financial Management (PMO/PCO Duties)
  • Deliver timely and accurate portfolio reporting and analytics, summarizing findings and communicating to stakeholders
  • Support annual and quarterly financial forecasting activities, ensuring accurate reporting of budgets, baselines, actuals, and benefits
  • Contribute to portfolio-level resource capacity planning and transit tracking
  • Monitor and control project costs through forecasting, tracking actuals versus baseline, and maintaining financial data quality in enterprise reporting systems (MIS, Planview)
  • Identify financial issues requiring escalation to leadership
  • Support vendor management, including SOW billing and accrual processes
Schedule & Risk Management
  • Support delivery teams with effective schedule management skills using scheduling and estimating tools (e.g., burndown charts, project plans, roadmaps) to estimate and sequence project tasks, milestones, and deliverables
  • Proactively identify and manage risks and issues with mitigation plans
  • Ensure clear, concise and timely communication for portfolio status reporting
Process Improvement & AI Integration
  • Improve current project management and portfolio reporting practices to enhance 'value add' processes
  • Simplify reporting, tracking and monitoring by automating PM end‑to‑end processes where possible
  • Leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance project delivery efficiency, automate reporting, generate insights from portfolio data, and optimize decision‑making
  • Utilize generative AI assistants for documentation creation, meeting summaries, risk analysis, and stakeholder communications
  • Apply AI‑powered analytics tools to identify trends, predict project risks, and provide data‑driven recommendations
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • University degree or relevant IT experience
  • 2-4 years of experience working with technology projects using Agile
  • Excellent organizational skills along with a strong collaborative and supportive attitude
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder communication skills
  • Experience working with RBC internal portfolio financial tracking and management tools like MIS, Planview, Confluence, JIRA etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for analysis and reporting
  • Strong financial management skills: ability to contribute to annual and quarterly planning cycles, financial monitoring, tracking, and cost estimation
