Global Technology Services (GTS) is one of the foundational divisions of the company, empowering internal TMX business lines for their technology needs, operations and digital innovation. GTS focuses on building technology capabilities, enabling our clients with the best technology solutions, and providing effective technology financial and resource management processes. The cost efficient operation is a key attribute of the GTS execution.
GTS is responsible for delivery of all technology initiatives and services across TMX.
As a Junior Systems Developer Intern you will work with the systems engineering team to optimize and improve the configuration, accuracy, performance and implementation of the various supporting platforms. You will use various coding languages, scripting methodologies, or platform tooling to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the organization. Collaborating with others on the team to brainstorm about the best way to tackle complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problems.
You’ll be required to perform incremental testing actions on code, processes, and deployments to identify ways to streamline execution and minimize errors encountered. You will also be applying Git Ops/Dev Ops principles to manage the platforms and help to drive functionality and adoption through continuous improvement, simplification, and automation.
This role reports to:Senior Technical Manager, Platform Engineering, Monitoring and Observability
Location:Hybrid (2-3 days/week in the office) – based in Toronto, ON
Must Have(s):- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Python, Go (Golang), or equivalent, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming and scripting fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, basic networking concepts, and version control using Git.
- Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and an interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a strong desire to understand "how things work" under the hood.
- Effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proactive attitude toward collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Open Telemetry).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, or Jenkins).
- Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
4-month Co-op / Internship:
September 8, 2026 – December 23, 2026
Salary Range: $25/hour – $28/hour CAD
