Information Security Co-ordinator Co-op
What You’ll Be Doing
CIBC’s Cyber Operations & Resilience team is an information security team that protects our bank from cyber threats. As an Information Security Coordinator Co-op, you will assist with ensuring that vulnerabilities within CIBC’s environment are identified, tracked, and remediated, triage information security alerts, monitor security events, and investigate potential security incidents by performing research activities. You will also elevate events of interest to senior investigators when appropriate and provide assistance to the investigations team.
HowYou’ll Succeed
- Vulnerability lifecycle management – Identify, assess, and prioritize vulnerabilities using scanning tools, the asset management database, and intelligence feeds and engage remediation teams to mitigate risk.
- Threat hunting – Build detection content and assess cyber threats using security tools and intelligence feeds.
- Technical skills – Leverage scripting and automation for continuous improvement of threat detection capabilities.
- Communication – Package and communicate risk advisories, reports, and decks to convey the status of vulnerabilities.
- Organization skills – Schedule, organize, and execute work assignments independently and adjust schedules as needed.
- Learning agility – Demonstrate a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and adaptability to rapidly changing priorities.
- You notice details that others overlook, and your critical thinking informs decision making.
- You interpret data, investigate complex problems, and communicate detailed information meaningfully.
- You are drawn to cyber security and are currently enrolled in a post-secondary Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or related program.
- You enjoy problem solving and working with a team to find innovative solutions.
- You have strong organizational and time‑management skills and can prioritize competing priorities.
