Senior Bioinformatics Engineer

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer in the Health Sciences in a hybrid work environment in Toronto, Ontario. Our client is seeking an experienced Bioinformatics Engineer who enjoys operating at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and computational biology.

Unlike traditional laboratory-focused positions, this role emphasizes building scalable computational solutions, data workflows, and analytical platforms that support advanced scientific and clinical research initiatives.

• Develop and optimize computational pipelines for large-scale biological and clinical datasets.
• Design and maintain cloud-based analysis workflows.
• Build tools and platforms that enable researchers and scientists to work more efficiently.
• Collaborate with software engineers, researchers, and domain experts.
• Improve data quality, reproducibility, and scalability across analytical environments.
• Contribute to technical strategy and architecture discussions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and methods in computational biology and bioinformatics.

• Experience working with genomic, clinical, or biomedical datasets.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools and cloud platforms.
• Exposure to machine learning, AI, or advanced analytics.
• Experience working with large datasets in cloud or high-performance computing environments.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and version control practices.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, Java, Scala, or similar languages.
• Experience developing production-grade data pipelines and workflows.
• Background in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, data science, or a related discipline.
