We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Junior Data Engineer to join our growing team! We're a close-knit group building and maintaining mission‑critical data products, and we need someone who can hit the ground running.

This role requires a solid understanding of data engineering best practices, and experience with orchestration, data modeling, and data warehouses. You'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining production data pipelines that power customer-facing solutions. You’ll leverage various technologies we already use, including GCP services like Cloud Composer, Cloud SQL, and Big Query.

This is a hybrid role based out of Citylitics’ Toronto office and requires 3+ days in-office per week.

• Design, build, and maintain: Develop and deploy highly performant, reliable, and maintainable pipelines using Airflow and Big Query. This includes everything from initial design and development through testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring and maintenance.
• Data Modeling & Optimization: Collaborate with data analysts and stakeholders to define data requirements, and design efficient and effective data models within Big Query. You’ll be optimizing queries and pipeline/dashboard performance for maximum efficiency.
• Custom Solutions: Serve as the dedicated data engineering resource for our Custom Solutions work, partnering closely with Data, Product, and Customer Success teams to take bespoke client requests from validated proof-of-concept through to production. Throughout, you'll translate client requirements into technical solutions and clearly communicate technical details and project progress to stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our data infrastructure and processes, including suggesting and implementing new technologies and best practices.
