Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Developer to join our Credit Risk Data team during an exciting transformation period. The successful candidate will play a key role in migrating our data infrastructure from on-premises systems to AWS cloud, building modern ETL pipelines, and preparing our data architecture to support AI-driven initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain ETL processes, migrating existing SSIS packages to AWS GlueBuild and optimize data transformation layers on AWS cloud infrastructureWork with Redshift and other AWS data services to create scalable data solutionsSupport the migration of legacy Netezza/on-prem data workloads to cloud-based architectureWrite clean, well-documented code following team standards and best practicesCollaborate within agile pods to deliver incremental value on sprint cyclesParticipate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentationEnsure data is structured and formatted for downstream AI/ML consumptionMust Haves:
Technical:
2-4 years of experience in data/ETL developmentProficiency in SQL and relational database conceptsExperience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)Exposure to or working knowledge of AWS services (Glue, Redshift, S3)Familiarity with Java development is an assetUnderstanding of data pipeline architecture and ETL best practicesTools & Environment:
Jira and Kanban for agile project trackingGit or similar version control systemsData lineage tools (e.g., Manta) is an assetSoft Skills:
Strong documentation and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in an agile team environmentSelf-motivated with a desire to learn new cloud technologiesAttention to detail with a focus on data qualityNice to Have
Experience in financial services or risk dataExposure to AI/ML data preparation conceptsPrevious experience at BMO or similar financial institutions
