About This OpportunityCNIB offers an 8‑month intensive, contracted transcription course (at no cost) for volunteers who can commit time. Courses are held Tuesday mornings 10am–12pm, September–April, at 1929 Bayview Ave, Toronto, or via Zoom when necessary. Homework assignments require about two hours a day (approximately 15 hours per week).
Responsibilities- Attend the 8‑month intensive transcription course.
- Complete weekly homework assignments.
- Transcribe print materials into braille for use in the CNIB Braille Room.
- Collaborate with the team in Toronto or via Zoom.
- Over the age of majority in the province of opportunity.
- Comfortable commuting to the opportunity location.
- Excellent written and oral English language skills.
- Comfortable working with a computer.
- Access to a Windows PC, a printer, and an email address.
- Ability to commit to a continued volunteer commitment of at least three years, with a weekly shift 10am–3pm at CNIB’s Braille Room.
Provided 8‑month intensive transcription course at no cost.
