Purpose of the Role

As the Technical Lead, you will serve as the primary subject‑matter expert for our enterprise on‑premises infrastructure. The role blends high‑level technical administration with team leadership, bridging the gap between complex technical execution and strategic project management, ensuring our core systems from Citrix DaaS to Cisco UCS, ESXi servers and Hitachi SAN are resilient, scalable and optimised.

Responsibilities Infrastructure and Network Strategic Oversight
  • Oversee the health and operation of Cisco UCS servers, VMWare ESXi clusters, Hitachi SAN storage arrays and Commvault backup solution; provide architectural guidance and troubleshooting support for Cisco routing/switching, Fortinet/Palo Alto firewalls, SD‑WAN and VMware NSX segmentation.
  • Oversee endpoint lifecycle processes including onboarding/off‑boarding, technical refreshes and configuration standardisation, ensuring changes are executed accurately with minimal disruption to end users.
Operational Stability
  • Ensure infrastructure stability and five‑nine availability, managing enterprise‑grade data centres, legacy and business‑critical systems including IBM AIX, Right Fax and various Linux and Windows medical appliances.
  • Operate and maintain on‑prem environments, monitor, investigate and resolve incidents and alerts.
  • Own problem and incident tickets from detection through remediation and post‑incident review.
  • Maintain and update knowledge base, runbooks, alert response procedures and configuration documentation based on real‑world incidents and audits.
  • Work closely with the Cyber Security Team to review security posture metrics and apply corrective changes or coordinate execution with technical teams.
  • Participate actively in incident, request and escalation queues, prioritising complex technical or security issues within defined service expectations.
  • Support major incident response by coordinating technical efforts and communicating status and resolution steps.
  • Identify recurring issues, operational gaps or process breakdowns and propose practical improvements that reduce ticket volume and client impact.
Project Management & Efficiency Drivers
  • Drive infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring on‑time delivery and technical specification compliance.
  • Proactively identify roadblocks and risks and suggest actionable improvements that align with managed service capabilities.
  • Identify automation and operational efficiency opportunities, including scripting, policy standardisation and system integration to reduce manual effort and error.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles and deployment standards to improve repeatability and service quality.
