About the Team

The Circular Material Innovations (CMI) team is part of Product Stewardship at Canadian Tire. The team manages packaging data, regulatory reporting, and waste diversion programs (e.g., tires, packaging, IC&I; waste) across Canada. It also identifies and delivers circular business and operational opportunities. The team is tasked with improving data quality and infrastructure, and identifying tangible opportunities to reduce cost, risk, and environmental impact.

The Data Analyst, Circular Material Innovations is a technically strong, detail‑oriented problem solver who owns the data accuracy, logic and defensibility of packaging and stewardship data. They can create the necessary data architecture and systems to ensure a data‑driven approach to reporting, compliance, and strategy. They bring technical excellence, analytical judgment, and cross‑functional communication skills.

What you'll do:
  • Own data compilation, validation and logic that is used for regulatory reporting and enterprise decision‑making.
  • Design and build integrated cross‑functional data management systems and processes for enterprise priorities such as stewardship programs and vendor fee accuracy.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to collect, clarify, validate, and correct data required for compliance, packaging, fee accuracy, and operational reporting.
  • Maintain and improve data tools, trackers, and reporting processes to strengthen accuracy, reduce manual effort, and support repeatable ways of working.
  • Analyze packaging, product, vendor, and stewardship data to identify trends, gaps, risks, and opportunities for process or cost improvements.
  • Support Extended Producer Responsibility, Federal Plastics Registry, Blue Box, tire recycling, and other stewardship reporting by preparing accurate, well‑documented data inputs.
  • Build simple automation, reporting logic, and quality checks that improve consistency and reduce repetitive manual work.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance/Accounting, Sustainability, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-6 years' experience as a data coordinator, analyst, or similar analytical role.
  • Expertise in data analysis tools/software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Knime, Azure, Power BI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with low‑code or automation tools (e.g., workflow tools, macros, RPA, Power Automate).
  • Keen understanding of how data analytics informs strategic initiatives and regulatory compliance.
  • Clear communication skills who can explain data findings, risks, and recommendations to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to validate data, identify inconsistencies, document assumptions, and produce transparent, accurate reporting outputs.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity, large datasets, multiple stakeholders, and evolving regulatory or business requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, track details, and keep work structured across multiple priorities.
  • Experience with retail, product data, packaging, Extended Producer Responsibility, Blue Box, Ontario Tire Recycling, Federal Plastics Registry considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of CTC data systems would be an asset.
Salary Range

Our typical hiring range is between $53,000.00 and $88,000.00 CAD Annual. The target salary range is between $65,000.00 and $80,000.00 CAD Annual. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job‑related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role‑specific requirements.
