CMDB Senior Developer - Service Now CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, Service Mapping & ITOM Role Overview

The CMDB Senior Developer will lead technical design, configuration, and data migration activities for the Service Now CMDB workstream. The role will support migration of configuration item data and related relationships from Flexera and other source systems into Service Now, while ensuring alignment with CSDM, CMDB data governance, discovery, service mapping, and reconciliation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and enhance Service Now CMDB capabilities to support enterprise ITAM, HAM, SAM, and service management requirements.
  • Analyze Flexera CMDB/source data, perform data mapping, and support migration into Service Now CMDB using import sets, transform maps, and reconciliation logic.
  • Configure CI classes, attributes, relationships, identification rules, reconciliation rules, and CMDB Health dashboards.
  • Partner with integration, discovery, and service mapping teams to ensure accurate CI population and lifecycle management.
  • Support CMDB data quality remediation, duplicate CI resolution, stale CI cleanup, and governance reporting.
  • Participate in workshops with business and technical stakeholders to validate CMDB requirements, data model, and CSDM alignment.
  • Support SIT, UAT, defect resolution, deployment planning, cutover, and hypercare for CMDB migration scope.
  • Prepare technical design documentation, configuration notes, data mapping documents, and operational handover materials.
Required Technical Skills
  • Service Now CMDB configuration, CI Class Manager, CSDM, CMDB Health, data certification, and CMDB governance.
  • Hands‑on experience with Discovery, MID Server concepts, service mapping dependencies, and CI relationship management.
  • Experience with import sets, transform maps, data normalization, identification rules, and reconciliation engine behavior.
  • Understanding of ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, HAM, and SAM data dependencies within Service Now.
  • Ability to troubleshoot CMDB data quality issues, duplicate CIs, relationship gaps, and data load exceptions.
Preferred Skills
  • Flexera to Service Now CMDB data migration experience or similar multi‑source CMDB migration experience.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, or other regulated enterprise environments.
  • Experience with CMDB remediation, CSDM adoption, and enterprise discovery rollout programs.
Required Certifications
  • Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • Service Now Certified Application Developer (CAD).
Preferred Certifications
  • CIS-Discovery.
  • CIS-Service Mapping.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional experience is mandatory.
  • Experience with Service Now implementation, configuration, migration, integration, testing, documentation, deployment, and hypercare support is required.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments is required.
  • Experience in Flexera to Service Now migration is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in banking, financial services, or large enterprise transformation programs is preferred.
Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Ability to work in a structured Agile/Scrum delivery model with sprint planning, defect triage, and release coordination.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to data quality, traceability, governance, and audit‑readiness.
  • Ability to support documentation, knowledge transfer, UAT, production deployment, and post‑deployment hypercare.
  • Experience working in large enterprise environments, preferably banking, financial services, or regulated industries.
