Location: Toronto, (Hybrid, 4x/week)
Overview:
Responsible for supporting the migration of the Risk Division’s applications, reporting assets, and data dependencies to the client's Snowflake and Azure Cloud enterprise platforms.
The role will focus on repointing existing Risk applications, processes, and dashboards to Snowflake tables while ensuring continuity of business-critical risk processes.
You will work closely with business users across different teams in the Risk Division, as well as Technology teams, to support the transition from Oracle-based solutions to Snowflake and Azure Cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
Repoint existing Risk Division applications, processes, and reporting assets from Oracle and SQL databases to Snowflake across multiple Risk teams.Analyze and update C#, Julia, and Python applications that currently depend on Oracle tables, Oracle SQL, and Oracle stored procedures.Convert, rewrite, or replace Oracle SQL and stored procedure logic where required to support Snowflake-based workflows.Work with Technology teams to understand Snowflake table structures, data availability, refresh timing, and data quality expectations.Support the migration of Power BI dashboards and reports from Oracle-based data sources to Snowflake.Validate migrated applications, reports, and processes through testing, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.Document migration approach, technical changes, testing results, known issues, and operational handover procedures.Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and blockers clearly, and participate in planning and delivery discussions with stakeholders across Risk.Contribute to Risk Division best practices for application repointing, SQL conversion, dashboard migration, testing, and production readiness.Other duties as assigned.Must Haves:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative or technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.Minimum 4 years of software development, database development, or data engineering experience.Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and C# application development.Experience with Julia is a plusExperience with Oracle databases, including Oracle SQL, stored procedures, and database-driven applications.Experience with Snowflake, including SQL development, connectivity, query optimization, and migration from legacy databases.Experience with Power BI dashboard development, migration, or data source repointing.Strong analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively with developers, Technology teams, risk professionals, and business users with varying levels of technical background across different Risk functions.Financial industry experience is an asset; capital markets or risk management experience is strongly preferred.Excellent communication skills and ability to provide clear updates on work plans, testing results, issues, and delivery status.
