In the heart of Marqeta’s operations, you'll manage critical databases supporting high cardholder availability globally. Collaborate seamlessly with application teams and other engineers to enhance database performance. This role plays a crucial part in driving Marqeta’s technical vision for database migration and high availability architectures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Automate cloud database operations and maintenance tasks
• Analyze and optimize database performance metrics
• Collaborate on platform architecture and sharding initiatives
• Document designs and communicate technical decisions clearly
• Mentor and guide junior engineering staff
Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years in backend engineering roles
• Experience with AWS Aurora and engineering best practices
• Familiar with IaaC, automation, and orchestration tools
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and job runners
• Experience in monitoring tools like Datadog
