Purpose

This position requires the successful candidate to work onsite. Although alternative accommodations may be granted from time to time, support of classroom technology requires the position to be always on campus.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Client Services at Victoria University, the incumbent is responsible for the technical support and setup of all classroom technologies including collaboration software such as Teams, Zoom, Web Ex and other, audio-visual equipment such as projection and sound systems and the teaching podiums as well as the maintenance and care of these systems.

The incumbent will also support the setup and tear down of all related equipment in meeting rooms upon request. He/She maintains an inventory of spares and ensures that these inventories are kept up to date, including laptops to support the needs of clients using the classrooms and meeting rooms. Installation and support of mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets and others, voice over IP environment and unified messaging.

Provides training/instruction in the use of Audio-visual equipment to faculty, staff and Events groups. Assists with the resolution of PC/software problems. Performs preventive maintenance and servicing of moderately complex classroom equipment. Act as Project Lead for classroom technologies upgrade and liaison with U of T’s Learning Space Management group.

Duties Multimedia
  • Ensure all Classroom, Meeting Rooms and Bader Theatre is in good working condition for maximum efficiency prior to any room bookings.
  • Coordinates with Events and Space Management Group at Victoria daily to ensure that the setup and tear down of A/V equipment are done before and after room bookings for the day.
  • Ensures all equipment are in good working condition. Makes necessary repairs. Perform routine maintenance.
  • Prepares and maintains an inventory of all equipment. Ensure that loaned-out equipment is returned and in good working condition and report all malfunctioning returned equipment to the ITS Manager.
  • Provides training and assistance for staff, faculty, students, and external clients with equipment available in the rooms they have booked. Recommends what available equipment is best suited for the user’s needs.
  • Manages and acts as Project Lead on classroom technology related projects, requests quotes, schedules work and supervises contractors. Proposes classroom technology equipment including sound system to purchase and update on an annual basis. This includes meeting spaces at Victoria.
  • Provide effective problem resolution and technical support services to clientele pond to service requests in a timely manner through Service Now. Most service requests require on-site support. Act as liaison between UofT’s Learning Space Management and Victoria ensuring that the technology used in academic classrooms is compatible with and supported by LSM.
  • Basic support and triage of network connectivity – DHCP, DNS, TCPIP for classroom technology as well as wireless access. Provides software support on current operating systems - Microsoft Windows and MAC OS;
  • Support current and future collaboration technologies such MS Teams, Zoom, and others.
