About the role Okta is on the lookout for a Senior UX Researcher to enhance its team in Toronto. This pivotal position requires working closely with various departments to guide product and design decisions for Okta Device Access and Okta Verify. The primary focus of this role is to ensure secure identity management, including for AI applications, by creating a robust infrastructure that meets user needs.

What you'll do
  • Collaborate with product managers and design teams to drive strategic decisions for the Okta Device Access and Okta Verify platforms.
  • Conduct comprehensive user research to gather insights that will shape the development of secure identity management solutions.
  • Analyze user feedback and data to identify trends and inform design iterations that enhance user experience.
  • Develop and implement research methodologies that effectively address the unique challenges of identity security in both AI and human contexts.
  • Present research findings to stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights that influence product direction.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality in your research outputs.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and user needs throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the growth of the UX research practice within the organization.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in UX research, with a strong portfolio showcasing your contributions to product design and development.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling you to effectively convey research findings to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with user research methodologies, including usability testing, interviews, surveys, and ethnographic studies.
  • A passion for understanding user needs and translating those insights into impactful design solutions.
Nice to have
  • Experience working in the identity management or cybersecurity sectors.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in UX design.
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading a team of researchers.
  • A background in human-computer interaction or a related field.
Skills & tools
  • Proficient in various user research methodologies, including but not limited to usability testing, surveys, and contextual inquiries.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Familiarity with tools for data analysis and visualization, such as Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of accessibility principles and how they apply to UX design.
