Project Overview

The Public Health I+IT Solutions Branch (PHS) develops, maintains and modernizes the I+IT solutions for Public Health and associated stakeholders. The branch manages ministry-supported public health solutions and ensures public health technology solutions are streamlined and integrate with the broader digital health sector. Ontario’s Public Health IT ecosystem supports critical functions essential for public health protection, disease prevention and legislative compliance, including immunization tracking, disease surveillance, and environmental health monitoring.

The solutions support the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Public Health programs to fulfill legislation and regulation including the Immunization School Pupils Act, Child Care and Early Years Act, COVID-19 Vaccination Reporting Act, Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Smoke-Free Ontario Act. These solutions support local public health agencies to provide mandatory programs under the Ontario Public Health Standards (e.g., Infectious Diseases Protocol), meet their legislative obligations and respond effectively to emerging health risks.

Resources are needed to provide specialized expertise to sustain and enhance Ontario’s Public Health IT ecosystem in order to mitigate risks of system outages, protect data integrity, and maintain legislative compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identifies opportunities for automation within software testing processes
  • Designs and executes QA tests using scripts that automatically test functionality.
  • Designs and writes test automation scripts
  • Utilizes test automation frameworks
  • Works with QA analysts and software developers to find solutions
  • Review test automation approach improvement.
  • Analyze testing, Dev Ops processes, standards, and best practices and drive necessary improvements.
  • Provide technical support to Test Automation tools.
  • Participate in Sprint Retrospective to examine current Quality Assurance practices to identify potential improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate test automation tools and processes and provide recommendations to promote best practices.
  • Transform functional, business, and system knowledge into effective test case planning and execution.
  • Create test data according to the test plan; analyze testing results and retesting until expected results are obtained; perform reviews with users and ensures client acceptability levels are met (e.g. participating in walk throughs); recommend changes to ensure acceptable testing results; retest all criteria in a live environment and recommend user sign off for implementation.
  • Work closely with developers, architects, product owners, and others in establishing effective test plans based on feature documentation.
  • Apply QA and technical expertise and engage other expertise to track and resolve testing and production issues and other IT related problems with quality deficiencies and maintain client service integrity.
  • Ensure that testing automation is under source control, documented and disaster recovery is in place.
Qualifications & Requirements REQUIRED
  • Must be able to work 5 days onsite per week at 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto
  • Identifies opportunities for automation within software testing processes
  • Designs and develops and executes QA tests using automation scripts that automatically test functionality
  • Designs and develops test automation frameworks
  • Designs and develops and utilizes test automation new technologies such as AI
  • Experience with enterprise-level performance testing tools such as Load Runner
  • Review test automation approach improvement
  • Experience with tools such as Selenium framework
NICE TO HAVE
  • Knowledge and experience with Public Sector Health related projects
EVALUATION CRITERIA

Public Sector Experience - 5 points

  • 5+ years of experience working with federal/provincial/broader public-sector healthcare providers
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Enterprise Architecture artifacts (or similar), processes and practices, and ability to produce technical documentation that comply with industry standard practices
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standard such as Project Management Institute (PMI) and Public Sector I&IT project management
