:Director, Domain Enterprise Architect, RPA and Intelligent Automation
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Architecture, Core Platforms, the Director, Domain Enterprise Architect, RPA and Intelligent Automation leads the architecture for Sun Life’s Intelligent Automation platforms.
The Director defines the RPA and Intelligent Automation domain strategy, future-state architectures, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps. The scope includes RPA, Intelligent Document Processing, Microsoft Power Platform, process mining, workflow orchestration, and Agentic AI capabilities applied to business process automation.
Working with business leaders, Technology Executives, other Enterprise Architects, application development teams, AI platform teams, security, privacy, operations, and engineering groups, the Director aligns Intelligent Automation investments and architecture decisions with business priorities, regulatory obligations, operational requirements, and measurable outcomes.
What will you do?
· Define and maintain the RPA and Intelligent Automation domain architecture strategy, principles, standards, and technology roadmaps.
· Assess the current-state RPA and Intelligent Automation architecture to identify capability gaps, risks, redundant technologies, technical debt, and opportunities for consolidation or modernization.
· Define future-state architectures for RPA, intelligent document workflows, low-code automation, process mining, workflow orchestration, AI-assisted operations, and Agentic AI capabilities applied to business processes.
· Establish architecture patterns, guardrails, decision frameworks, and reference architectures that enable secure, scalable, resilient, auditable, and production-ready Intelligent Automation capabilities.
· Collaborate with business leaders and Technology Executives to communicate architecture direction, options, trade-offs, investment considerations, risks, and expected outcomes for RPA and Intelligent Automation.
· Drive platform standardization, reusable automation patterns, and approved citizen and professional development approaches to reduce duplication and improve delivery efficiency.
· Collaborate with Enterprise, Domain, Solution, Application, Data, Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, Privacy, and AI Platform Architects to align automation decisions and resolve cross-domain dependencies.
· Lead RPA and Intelligent Automation domain architecture governance, including architecture reviews, risk assessments, exception management, and architecture decision records, ensuring alignment with security, privacy, responsible AI, resilience, operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
What you’ll need to succeed?
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is preferred.
· Enterprise architecture credentials such as TOGAF, IASA CITA, or an equivalent architecture certification are preferred.
· Relevant certifications in RPA, Microsoft Power Platform, workflow automation, process mining, AI, security, or related technologies are considered assets.
· 10 or more years of progressive architecture experience, including enterprise, domain, portfolio, application, or platform architecture responsibility.
· Significant experience designing, governing, and modernizing enterprise RPA, Intelligent Automation, workflow, or business process technology platforms.
· Deep expertise in at least one major Intelligent Automation capability and broad knowledge across RPA, Intelligent Document Processing, Microsoft Power Platform, process mining, workflow orchestration, Generative AI, and Agentic AI integration patterns.
