Dev Ops Engineer; Student Position

This is a student position that is 4 months in duration for the term:
January - April. You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.

This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.

We are looking for a Dev Ops Engineer Student who is interested in learning how modern technology platforms are built, delivered, and supported within a large enterprise environment.

As part of an agile squad, you will work alongside experienced developers, engineers, and technology professionals to help support the tools, systems, and processes that enable the delivery of customer-focused solutions. You will gain exposure to Dev Ops practices, automation, cloud technologies, and continuous delivery while contributing to meaningful projects that support Canada Life's digital strategy.

• Support the monitoring, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of systems, services, and tools that enable software delivery and operations
• Assist in deploying new capabilities and enhancements while learning and applying Dev Ops principles and best practices
• Participate in agile squad activities through the development, maintenance, and automation of tools and processes
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) initiatives that enable efficient and reliable software deployments
• Assist with building new solutions and supporting the migration of existing capabilities to modern technology platforms
• Help automate current processes and interfaces while contributing to infrastructure and operational standards
• Collaborate with developers, operations teams, and other technology partners to support system reliability and performance
• Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge-sharing activities, and operational best practices
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends while bringing new ideas and perspectives to the team
• Gain exposure to a broad range of technology disciplines, including infrastructure, software development, operations, automation, and quality assurance

You may gain experience with several of the following technologies, tools, and practices (experience in all is not required
):

• Dev Ops & Automation: CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, source code management, and configuration management
• Programming & Scripting: Java, scripting languages, and automation tooling
• Containers & Platforms: Docker, Kubernetes, and modern application platforms
• Development Practices: Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Monitoring & Reliability: Logging, metrics, alerting, and performance monitoring tools
• Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, Teams, or similar platforms

• Currently in your second-year or higher and pursuing a post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Strong academic achievement and a passion for technology and continuous learning
