Senior Digital Accessibility Consultant

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Duration: 3–6-month contract

About the Role

We're seeking a Digital Accessibility Consultant to help shape and advance an organization's accessibility program. You'll assess current readiness, build a practical framework and improvement roadmap, and partner with teams to make accessibility part of how websites and applications are planned, designed, and developed.

This role combines hands-on accessibility expertise with project leadership and team education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an accessibility framework with clear standards, processes, ownership, and measurable goals.
  • Conduct accessibility audits and gap analyses, prioritize findings, and guide teams through remediation.
  • Lead accessibility projects, managing scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies.
  • Partner with design, development, content, and testing teams to incorporate accessibility throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Embed accessibility early in requirements, design reviews, and development rather than addressing issues only before launch.
  • Provide training and practical guidance on WCAG and applicable accessibility requirements, including AODA, ADA, and Section 508.
  • Track progress, communicate risks and recommendations, and coordinate external vendors or consultants as needed.
  • Stay current with evolving accessibility standards, regulations, and technologies.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a digital accessibility subject matter expert supporting websites and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG and applicable accessibility requirements.
  • Experience developing accessibility frameworks, improvement roadmaps, or governance processes.
  • Ability to assess accessibility gaps and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and working closely with business and technical teams.
  • Strong communication, training, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and turn recommendations into sustainable practices.
Preferred Experience
  • Helping an organization establish or improve its accessibility program.
  • End-to-end website delivery, including CMS platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager, tag management, and website governance.
  • Familiarity with privacy notices, terms of use, secure website practices, and domain registration.
