Reporting into the Actuarial Services Manager/Director, the Senior Actuarial Consultant will lead corporate, pricing, and research initiatives that strengthen Sovereign Insurance’s actuarial capabilities. You will play a critical role in delivering accurate analysis, innovative modeling, and strategic insights that inform pricing, reserving, and financial risk management decisions. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will ensure actuarial standards are upheld while driving solutions to complex challenges and contributing to the long‑term financial strength of the organization.

How

you will create impact:
  • Lead actuarial projects including rate change implementations, reserve analysis, DCAT studies, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and enhance actuarial models to support corporate, pricing, and research objectives.
  • Analyze and interpret management information to provide actionable insights for decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and other P&C companies within The Co‑operators Group to address actuarial issues and share best practices.
  • Maintain and validate data sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity for actuarial projects.
  • Build strong relationships with Business Intelligence and Data teams to align actuarial requirements with system development.
  • Prepare clear and concise internal and external communications, simplifying complex actuarial concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Identify innovative solutions to emerging actuarial challenges and contribute to process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with actuarial standards of practice and corporate governance requirements.

To join our team:
  • University degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science.
  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in the property and casualty actuarial field preferred.
  • Successful completion of at least two actuarial exams and actively pursuing ACAS or FCAS designation (completion is an asset).
  • Strong technical skills in actuarial techniques and familiarity with relevant software tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAS knowledge is preferred.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to simplify complex actuarial concepts for broad audiences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of P&C insurance products, marketplace dynamics, and regulatory environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
