Working with an award-winning MGA located in Downtown Toronto that is looking to hire a Team player to join their growing Team. Your key responsibilities will be to underwrite and develop business, while mentoring a small team of more junior underwriters.

Responsibilities
Moderate and mentor our existing teams of experienced underwriters.Ability to Underwrite new and existing property and casualty business by analyzing clients’ business operation, current coverage, and previous claims experience to determine exposure and set appropriate terms and premiums.Reporting to the Senior Vice President responsible for Underwriting and Insurer engagement.Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metContribute to recording and measuring of insurance risks to ensure accuracy and good practiceStrong customer service focus with an emphasis on assisting colleagues in resolving broker requests and concerns in a timely fashionDevelop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleaguesUtilizes knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to operate effectively and appropriatelyMeet business objectives, including: negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business and renewals managing production and issue contract certainty documentation within set timeframe. ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectivesParticipate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectivesContribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence.Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience writing commercial property insurance; casualty and professional liability experience an asset.Post secondary education & CIP/FCIP qualified preferredHigh level of technical competency in evaluating and writing large, complex accountsKnowledge of commercial property forms, pricing and rating methodology, modeling and valuation toolsAbility to review and understand standard property and casualty policy wordingsAbility to analyse data and use for risk profiling and decision-makingA high level of numeracy and literacyMarket awareness and broker development acumenThorough knowledge of legal and regulatory requirementsMotivated, enthusiastic, dynamic and flexibleStrong analytical, organisational and prioritisation skillsStrong communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skillsAdvanced level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages.DGA Careers has been proudly serving the Canadian insurance industry for over 30 years, specializing in providing insurance recruiting services to major insurers, insurance brokerage firms and independent adjusting firms.
