Here is what a typical day looks like
Review and interpret policy wordings and parameters to determine if coverage is in-force and triggered by the lossManage claims settlement process with independent adjusters, providing recommendations and direction for negotiation and settlement within authority provided by insurersPerform in-house adjustment of claims within authority granted by provincial authorities and insurersSet and maintain accurate loss and expense reserves based upon investigation and/or recommendations, including validating independent adjusters’ or insurers’ reserve calculations and advising of discrepanciesPerform business interruption calculationsProvide feedback to Underwriters, Risk Management, and Brokerage teams on claims frequency and physical hazardsMaintain and action abeyance files and payment schedulesDraft and distribute correspondence to insureds, insurers, third party claimants, adjusters and other industry membersThe value you bring
General Insurance Level 2 License required (must obtain within 6 months of hire), RIBO license preferred (must obtain within 12 moths of hire)Working towards your CIP or CAIB preferredMinimum 5 years’ experience working with Claims in the insurance industryClear professional communication, both verbal and writtenKnowledge of MS products including Word, Excel, OutlookRole Details
