We are Looking for candidates to join our BFL Career Advancement Rotational Experience (CARE) Program in our Toronto and Hamilton offices
Our Career Advancement Rotational Experience (CARE) program is a structured and immersive rotational training initiative designed to equip recent graduates from an insurance educational program with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the insurance industry and progress into a client-facing role.
Throughout the rotations, you will be part of a dynamic, team-oriented environment where you will tackle challenging and impactful work that contributes to our organization's goals. No matter the rotation, your role will be rewarding and meaningful.

Phase 1 - First 90 – 120 days
During the first segment of the program, you will experience and understand the core administration and basic client management functions of our business. Working directly with our insurer partners and internal service teams, you will deliver to our clients the service that they need.
Prepare certificates of insurance and automobile liability cards (“pink slips”).Manage and update the monthly bordereau, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Assist in preparing renewal presentations and new business proposals.Prepare and maintain comprehensive client manuals.Follow up on policies and endorsements, ensuring they are processed and documented correctly.Update and maintain Excel spreadsheets with client and policy data.Prepare cover notes, invoices, and letters for clients.Pull Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR) for clients as needed.Complete initial policy comparisons.Request loss experience from insurers to assess claims history and impact on premiums.Update client data in BFL’s broker management software (EPIC).Phase 2 - 120 to 365 days
This period will include 2 to 4 rotational placements within internal BFL commercial departments allowing the successful candidate time to network and immerse themself with our key insurer partners. The successful candidate will also work in a team environment to complete a capstone case project to showcase and apply what you have learned.
During the second phase of the CARE Program, you will expand your skills and knowledge to take on more advanced client-service and insurance broking work, including the following:
Request and follow up with insurers and/or clients for outstanding information, endorsements or policy documentation.Prepare proposals for renewals and new business.Respond to telephone calls and written inquiries from clients and underwriters.Work with the Client Executives and Client Service Managers in negotiating with Insurers changes, renewals and new business placements where applicable.Review policy wordings and other documentation for accuracy and completeness and as required, notes and corrects errors.Create abeyance and follow up for outstanding items from underwriters, markets and clients.Monitor and follow up on outstanding client’s receivables.Learn our processes and client service procedures.Responsible for monthly bordeaux, where required.Invoice and manage receivables.
