Location:

North Bay or Toronto, ON

Specific Responsibilities
  • Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements in accordance with established authority, underwriting guidelines, and service standards.
  • Evaluate risk quality, coverage requirements, pricing, terms, and conditions for commercial accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong broker relationships through timely communication and practical underwriting solutions.
  • Contribute to portfolio retention and profitable growth through effective negotiation and sound account management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business objectives and service commitments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
  • CIP designation, or active progress toward completion, is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
Skills and Competencies
  • Solid knowledge of commercial lines underwriting principles, risk assessment, pricing, and coverage analysis.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong account analysis and portfolio management skills.
  • Customer-focused approach with the ability to understand, address, and resolve broker and client concerns effectively.
