Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Energy Underwriting Associate tosupport Underwriters by working on assigned book of business using multiple tools and resources.
Reporting to the Sr. Operations Manager - Energy, Marine and Construction, you will play a critical role in shaping underwriting strategy, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring alignment with Zurich’s risk appetite while delivering strong financial outcomes.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.
What you will do- Support the underwriting team by reviewing financial information, risk exposures, loss history, and customer data to help evaluate and assess new business opportunities.
- Analyze transactions and underwriting information to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with established guidelines, regulations, and technical standards.
- Partner with underwriters to prepare quotes, issue policies, and manage policy changes, renewals, endorsements, and other servicing activities.
- Serve as a key point of contact for brokers, agents, and customers, responding to inquiries and providing timely, high-quality service.
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of customer accounts, resolving issues and supporting positive customer outcomes within established authority levels.
- Monitor underwriting processes, controls, and practices, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and service delivery.
- Provide advisory support to internal stakeholders, helping ensure alignment between underwriting policies, procedures, and day-to-day operations.
Required:
- Bachelors degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management or Insurance area
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis
- Microsoft Office experience
Preferred:
- Insurance industry knowledge
- Knowledge of processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service experience
- Detail oriented
- Multi-tasking skills
At Zurich Canada, we are committed to pay equity. We determine compensation based on objective criteria such as skills, experience, and internal equity.
