Join IAVGO as a Community Lawyer focused on serving marginalized workers in Ontario. This role emphasizes advising injured workers within a dedicated community legal clinic environment.
IAVGO seeks lawyers with a passion for social justice and experience with precariously employed individuals. You will work collaboratively with community organizers and legal staff, providing legal representation and advocacy for injured workers.
Your role includes public legal education, outreach, law reform, and support for law students at our satellite clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise injured workers in compensation proceedings
• Participate in outreach and community legal education
• Support clinic caseworkers with research and advice
• Supervise law students when qualified
• Produce advocacy reports for law reform
Requirements:
• Experience with marginalized and precariously employed groups
• Commitment to collective strength building for injured workers
• Understanding of poverty law issues
• Preferred experience in community legal settings
• Two years of legal experience or more
