Job Summary

Responsible for the strategic sourcing and procurement of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) from Rest-of-World suppliers (North America and Europe). Drives cost optimization and value creation while ensuring a compliant, high-quality, and reliable supplier base aligned with Apotex’s short- and long-term business objectives. Leads supplier performance improvement, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance supply continuity, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities
  • Identify and recommend long-term development and supply partners based on market requirements, including pricing, quality, delivery, and regulatory considerations
  • Lead supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings targets and drive additional value-creation opportunities
  • Manage supplier readiness across development, regulatory submission, product launch, and commercial supply phases
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external manufacturers on technical, quality, and regulatory matters
  • Support supplier-driven changes and manage raw material OOS/OOT investigations and resolutions
  • Drive technical sourcing initiatives and lead cross-functional issue resolution efforts
  • Define, plan, monitor, and report progress against project timelines and key deliverables
  • Participate in manufacturer selection and qualification through cross-functional collaboration
  • Provide market and business intelligence to support Project Management, Global R&D, Procurement, and Commercial teams
  • Maintain and improve internal processes, procedures, and cross-functional interfaces
  • Ensure seamless project handovers across R&D, Tech Transfer, and Commercial teams
  • Build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships through open and transparent communication
  • Lead initiatives to ensure cost competitiveness and reliable, on-time API supply
  • Support contracting activities, including Supply Agreements, Due Diligence, and Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs)
  • Foster a culture of open, two-way communication, while actively seeking feedback to continuously strengthen leadership effectiveness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements Education
  • Graduate degree:
    Commerce, Economist (Business Administration) or Scientist (Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Pharmacology etc.)
Knowledge,

Skills And Abilities
  • At least 5 years of experience in API sourcing and procurement within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong knowledge of the global API supplier landscape
  • Solid understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in team environments
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency and speed
  • Sound understanding of supply chain principles and end-to-end processes
  • Adaptable and effective in managing change within dynamic environments
  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong service orientation
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments and manage relationships with global stakeholders and suppliers
  • Fluent in English
Travel Requirements
  • This position is based in Mexico
  • Occasionally and primarily to visit, meet local suppliers and manufacturers and internationally for exhibitions, trade fares and potentially for training, workshops, conferences, as deemed necessary
