Procurement Buyer ut the role As a Procurement Buyer at Hello Fresh, you will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process to ensure that our kitchens are stocked with the highest quality ingredients at the best possible prices. You will collaborate closely with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders to optimize purchasing strategies and contribute to our mission of delivering fresh and delicious meals to our customers.

What you'll do
  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies that align with Hello Fresh's operational goals and budgetary constraints.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities, pricing, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions that benefit the company.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including culinary, logistics, and quality assurance, to ensure that the procurement process meets the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure timely replenishment of ingredients and materials, minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Analyze purchasing data and supplier performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement in the procurement process.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while continuously seeking opportunities to expand the supplier base and diversify sourcing options.
  • Participate in supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Hello Fresh's quality standards and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support the development of sustainable sourcing practices by identifying and engaging with suppliers who prioritize ethical and environmentally friendly practices.
  • Prepare and present procurement reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators and recommendations for optimization.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement strategies and operations.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members, sharing best practices and insights to foster a collaborative team environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably within the food industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions based on findings.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Candidates must possess valid work authorization in Canada.
Nice to have
  • Experience with sustainable sourcing practices and knowledge of ethical supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality assurance processes.
  • Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment, demonstrating adaptability and innovation.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, which may enhance communication with international suppliers.
