Our client in the logistics sector is looking for a driven and experienced Junior Operations Representative to support their logistics team. In this role, you'll oversee daily interstate freight operations - from finding reliable carriers and negotiating pricing to ensuring shipments are picked up and delivered on schedule while meeting customer expectations. Success in this position requires excellent communication, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks erience with DAT Load Board and similar freight platforms is an asset.
This role is 100% onsite based out of their North York office.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure dependable carriers for interstate shipments using DAT and other tools.
- Negotiate rates that are competitive while protecting company margins.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term partnerships with carriers.
- Schedule and dispatch shipments, ensuring all details are communicated clearly and accurately.
- Track shipments from pickup to final delivery, addressing delays or service issues proactively.
- Work closely with customers, drivers, and dispatch teams to ensure all required paperwork (BOL, POD, rate confirmations, etc.) is complete and compliant.
- Resolve in-transit challenges, schedule adjustments, and additional service requests promptly and professionally.
- Keep customers and internal teams informed with timely updates.
- Use TMS and DAT platforms to post loads, monitor carrier performance, and update shipment statuses.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all information is properly entered for billing and auditing.
- At least 2 years of experience in freight brokerage, carrier sales, or logistics operations (interstate experience is an asset).
- Strong working knowledge of DAT, TMS platforms, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).
- Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian interstate shipping, equipment types, and documentation requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Background in a fast-paced logistics or 3PL setting.
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as insurance, carrier vetting, and safety ratings.
- Dependable team player with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

The posted salary range reflects expected compensation for this role in accordance with Ontario pay transparency requirements. Actual compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications and may fall anywhere within the range.
