Our client, an established distribution company in North York , is looking for a Junior Purchaser to support purchasing, supplier relationships and product sourcing. This opportunity can be tailored to either a developing buyer or an experienced candidate with a strong track record of negotiating and delivering results.
Responsibilities
- Purchase products and materials based on business requirements
- Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment
- Research new products, suppliers and purchasing opportunities
- Review pricing, availability and market conditions
- Resolve supplier, delivery and product-quality concerns
- Work closely with management, sales and warehouse teams
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing results
Qualifications
- 1 year purchasing, buying or procurement experience
- Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills
- Confident, outgoing and comfortable building relationships
- Eager to learn and open to training
- Organized and able to manage multiple purchasing priorities
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
- Stable employment history
- Food distribution, grocery or consumer-products experience is an asset
