Reporting to the Environmental Service Manager, the Maintenance Helper plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of residents by supporting the upkeep of our long-term care facility. In this role, you will assist with general maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning, and ensuring all equipment and spaces are safe and functional for residents and staff.

This part‑time role requires working three days per week, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, including a rotational weekend schedule. Occasional extended hours may be required. The position is fast‑paced and deadline‑driven, demanding strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and proficiency with computer systems. The role also involves regular collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

• Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program
• Regularly perform the various tasks described in the programs
• Regularly check completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home
• Complete repairs as necessary, including but not limited to painting, wall repair, small leak, installation of toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replacement of light fixtures, and installation of blinds
• Check the operation of the mechanical equipment
• Inspect Life Safety equipment and systems
• Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment
• Complete regular maintenance reports
• Complete pre‑startup assessments on new equipment as applicable
• Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors
• Perform other duties as required
• Must be available for call‑ins on short notice
• Perform everything pertaining to maintenance, including heavy‑duty related work

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and write in English
• Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred
• Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures
• Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH&S
• High School Diploma
• College level trade certificate is an asset

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date
• Completion of a 2‑Step TB skin test within the last 12 months
