General maintenance technician

General Maintenance Technician (After Hours 5pm - 1am)

Akelius is seeking a General Maintenance Technician for a portfolio of multi‑family communities. This new position requires shift hours from 5:00pm to 1:00am. The role reports to an experienced Property Manager and involves all minor and major repairs of property equipment, preventative and scheduled maintenance, and responding to emergency requests.

• Respond to plumbing, electrical and appliance emergencies within the Toronto portfolio.
• Evaluate the need for third‑party contractors when necessary.
• Complete daily repair and upkeep tasks of assigned properties.
• Respond to and complete residential maintenance requests.
• Prepare vacant apartments through turnover repairs and improvements.
• Clean and maintain grounds, including common areas, sidewalks, and parking areas; remove snow near property entrances.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Maintain a professional appearance and excellent customer service.
• Be available to work on an on‑call basis, including holidays, weekends and late nights.
• Perform additional duties and portfolios as assigned.

• Three or more years of experience in building and mechanical maintenance repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of building systems.
• Ability to work after hours.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Ownership of responsibilities; able to anticipate and address issues in emergency situations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with tenants.
• Positive, people‑focused, and professional attitude.

• Annual salary range: $55,000 to $70,000.
