We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electronics Technician to join our team and play a key role in maintaining and supporting our fleet of portable electronic sign trailers and related technical systems.
Position SummaryThe Electronics Technician will be responsible for the comprehensive management, deployment, maintenance, and repair of our portable electronic sign trailer fleet. This hands‑on role requires strong technical aptitude, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to respond effectively to operational needs. The successful candidate will ensure that all equipment is field‑ready, properly maintained, and functioning reliably to support deployments and ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities Fleet Management & Deployments- Manage and maintain the portable electronic sign trailer fleet to ensure equipment is operational and deployment‑ready at all times
- Coordinate and support portable electronic sign trailer deployments, ensuring timely setup and proper functionality in the field
- Conduct inspections and readiness checks prior to deployment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and mechanical issues with sign trailers and related components
- Perform on‑site and in‑shop repairs as needed to minimize downtime
- Respond to technical issues promptly to maintain operational continuity
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and replacement of batteries and power systems
- Monitor battery health and ensure reliable power supply across the fleet
- Prepare, program, and configure electronic sign boards for deployment
- Ensure display messaging and functionality meet operational requirements
- Proactively monitor inventory and order parts and components to ensure adequate stock levels
- Anticipate maintenance needs and maintain a supply of critical replacement parts to avoid operational delays
- Serve as a technical resource, available to answer questions and provide guidance on equipment and systems
- Be available to respond to emergencies and urgent technical issues as they arise
- Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of camera systems
- Assist with GPS/telematics systems (e.g., Geotab) configuration and support
- Provide general IT support as needed for related systems and equipment
- Diploma, certificate, or equivalent training in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic and electrical systems
- Knowledge of battery and power systems, including testing and maintenance
- Experience with programming or configuring electronic display boards is an asset
- Familiarity with camera systems, GPS/telematics platforms, and basic IT support preferred
- Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent organizational skills, including inventory and parts management
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to be available for emergencies and respond to urgent technical needs
- Strong communication skills and a customer‑service‑oriented approach
