Job Overview

As a Maintenance Technician at the newly opening Hyatt Place Toronto Airport, you will play a vital role in ensuring our property is well-maintained, safe, and welcoming for both guests and colleagues. From handling day-to-day repairs to supporting preventive maintenance programs, you will help deliver the quality, comfort, and reliability that guests expect from Hyatt.

Key Responsibilities General Maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs including painting, patching, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and equipment servicing.
  • Complete work orders efficiently, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces remain in excellent condition.
  • Replace or repair light fixtures, ceiling tiles, flooring, furniture, plumbing fixtures, and kitchen/laundry equipment as needed.
Preventive & Technical Maintenance
  • Carry out preventive maintenance tasks to extend the life of building systems and equipment.
  • Monitor the operation of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure efficiency and report any deficiencies.
  • Assist with maintaining safety and functionality of elevators, entrance/access doors, lighting, and security systems.
Property Care
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of hotel exterior areas, parking lots, signage, landscaping, and recreational facilities (pool, fitness center, etc.).
  • Keep tools, supplies, and maintenance inventory secure, organized, and in good working order.
  • Support sustainability efforts by minimizing waste and energy usage where possible.
Guest Service
  • Respond promptly, courteously, and professionally to guest requests and concerns.
  • Ensure maintenance activities have minimal impact on the guest experience.
  • Uphold Hyatt's service culture by maintaining a helpful, approachable, and professional demeanor at all times.
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Assist with emergency situations, including fire alarms, power outages, and guest safety incidents.
  • Support hotel operations by performing other duties as assigned.
Health & Safety
  • Follow all company and brand safety protocols, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Comply with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and actively participate in a safe work culture.
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately to management.
  • Contribute to Clean as You Go practices and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in building maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of general maintenance experience in hospitality, commercial buildings, or a similar workplace.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with guests and colleagues.

Ability to:

  • Stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs.
  • Bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Pay: $24.00–$24.50 per hour
