This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented maintenance professional who enjoys working directly in the field to solve problems, support safe operations, and keep critical energy systems performing reliably.

At Enwave, we’re advancing how cities use energy, delivering innovative district energy and decarbonization solutions that create long-term impact. As part of our External Plants team, this role plays a key part in supporting the operation, maintenance, and reliability of Enwave’s external plants and geothermal systems across the GTA.

As Maintenance Specialist, External Plants, you will help coordinate and execute maintenance activities, support troubleshooting and condition monitoring, work closely with contractors and site stakeholders, and contribute to safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.

What you’ll do

You will support the day-to-day coordination and execution of maintenance activities across Enwave’s external plants and geothermal systems, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will work closely with building operators, contractors, site teams, and internal stakeholders to coordinate maintenance work, understand operational impacts, support site follow-ups, and help resolve maintenance-related issues in a timely and practical way.

You will perform on-site maintenance support and technical troubleshooting, including job hazard assessments, permit coordination, lockout/tagout activities, commissioning and decommissioning support, condition monitoring, root cause analysis, and alarm response. You will use site observations, BAS information, maintenance data, and CMMS tracking to identify abnormalities, support corrective actions, and contribute to improved equipment performance and reliability.

You will help plan, schedule, track, and report on maintenance activities across assigned sites, including monitoring maintenance KPIs, preparing routine maintenance updates, coordinating contractor work, and assessing the quality and completeness of completed maintenance. You will also support water testing and treatment monitoring, plant troubleshooting, and emergency response when required, playing an important role in keeping critical systems operating safely and effectively.

What we’re looking for
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC equipment, building operations, plant operations, chillers, boilers, pumps, VFDs, and related mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience supporting operation and maintenance activities in buildings, plants, or similar technical environments.
  • Proven ability to conduct troubleshooting, condition monitoring, technical investigations, and root cause analysis to support safe and reliable equipment performance.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance work with contractors, including assessing the quality, completeness, and effectiveness of completed work.
  • Experience working with building operators, site personnel, security teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and manage operational impacts.
  • Experience using CMMS software to create maintenance schedules, track maintenance activities, monitor KPIs, and support routine reporting.
  • Familiarity with BAS systems such as Metasys, Siemens PCS, DCS, or similar platforms, with the ability to support plant troubleshooting and alarm response.
  • Understanding of chemical water treatment practices, including onsite testing, monitoring, and tracking.
  • Knowledge of OHSA requirements in industrial or plant environments.
  • Strong coordination, organization, customer service, relationship-building, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in HVAC, building operations, plant operations, or maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license, with the ability and willingness to travel to sites, respond to plant emergencies, provide after-hours or weekend support when required, and occasionally perform physical work onsite.
