The Role:

The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for providing supervision and direction to unionized mill maintenance personnel and external maintenance contractors to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing production and maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime. The ideal candidate for this existing vacancy will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production and maintenance cost targets for the site.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations ensuring all employees are held accountable for our safety and environmental systems.

Ensure company policies and values are implemented and maintained throughout the organization and all legal requirements are met.

Lead a unionized team in optimizing maintenance as well as coordinate schedule routine and preventative maintenance functions by tradespersons.

Work closely with operating departments and planners to complete mechanical maintenance.

Mentor and coach employees through active observation and provide feedback.

Requirements:

Candidates should have a red seal trade certificate, diploma, degree in mechanical engineering or at least 2 years of experience supervising trades in a unionized environment in an industrial facility.

Excellent communicator, insightful, self-aware, and able to listen to employees and integrate feedback into the operations. Strong belief in continuous improvement.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent organizational skills including planning, prioritizing, and delegating.

Strong computer skills including MS Office and previous experience using a CMMS.

Candidates must be able to legally work within Canada at the time of applying for the position.
