About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on Vice President of Finance to join our clients executive leadership team. This is a key strategic role that combines leadership, operational execution, and financial stewardship. The VP Finance will serve as a trusted advisor to executive management and will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company’s Canadian and U.S. operations.
This role is ideal for a versatile finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and brings a strong generalist background with experience building, scaling, and evolving finance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership, supporting data-driven decision making
- Lead financial planning & analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting
- Managed project accounting activities including budget tracking, cost analysis, forecasting and financial reporting to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines
- Oversee accounting activities, including annual audits and reviews
- Manage internal and external financial reporting
- Continuously improve finance-related processes and controls
- Lead HR and payroll operations for both Canada and the U.S.
- Coordinate tax compliance (including transfer pricing) with local tax advisors and headquarters
- Oversee and coordinate corporate legal with external legal counsel
- Coordinate insurance requirements with global insurance expert
- Maintain and manage relationships with banking partners
- Oversee general administration, (e.g. office management, car fleet, cell phones)
- Develop and mentor a high-performing finance & administration team
Upcoming Projects Include:
- Leading the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a new ERP system
- Selecting and implementing a new payroll provider service
Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of progressive senior finance experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Proven experience managing both Canadian and U.S. business operations
- Strong background in project-based industries; experience in construction or related fields is highly desirable
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling finance teams / systems for mid-sized enterprises.
- Hands-on, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to lead in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative leadership style
- Skilled in change management and implementing organizational structures, processes and systems
- Holds a Canadian CPA designation; U.S. CPA is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency in IFRS and US GAAP is highly desirable.
