Duties
The Director, Indigenous Community Engagement will lead Build Canada Homes’ (BCH) engagement with Indigenous communities in alignment with BCH’s mandate, while supporting a coordinated and culturally grounded approach. They will design and implement engagement strategies that reflect Indigenous priorities, protocols, and community contexts, ensuring relationships are built on trust, respect, and long‑term partnership.

As a trusted liaison, they will facilitate dialogue, ensure respectful communication, align stakeholders, and advocate for Indigenous perspectives across partnerships. They will foster strategic relationships with Indigenous communities, industry, and financial institutions to strengthen and support Indigenous proposals.

In addition, the Director will ensure and promote culturally safe practices across all engagement activities. Working horizontally within BCH, they will provide practical guidance to teams and inform the design of housing programs that reflect Indigenous realities.

They will coordinate complex, multi‑stakeholder engagement activities, translate community input into clear, actionable insights, and monitor policies impacting Indigenous housing. The Director will advise BCH’s senior leadership on Indigenous housing needs, cultural considerations, and emerging policy implications to support informed, community‑centred decision‑making.

Who we are looking for

Seasoned professional with deep experience engaging multisector stakeholders within complex public policy, housing, or infrastructure environments.

Demonstrated experience working directly with Indigenous communities and leaders.

Practical understanding of Indigenous housing issues and community contexts.

Strong communication with empathy, cultural awareness, and respect for Indigenous protocols.

Skilled in engagement strategy, relationship management, and multi‑stakeholder coordination.

Sound judgment, discretion, and excellent communication skills.

Ability to manage diverse teams and engagement portfolios while advancing housing initiatives informed by Indigenous voices and community‑led priorities.

EX3:  Experience in designing and implementing culturally aware engagement strategies with Indigenous communities.
