Position Scope
Build the vision for strategic and quantitative analysis as part of a growing team conducting cutting-edge research to provide deep insights, actionable measurements, and analysis into the complex financial world of market and dealer firm regulation.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Market Regulation, the Vice President of Analytics is a key strategic role leading the organization’s national analytics team. The successful candidate will proactively analyze and interpret Canadian capital market activity, providing quantitative evidence of the impact of regulatory initiatives and the health of the markets, supporting strategic initiatives.
IIROC aims to leverage its collected data to analyze trends, identify risks, inform regulatory approaches, and publish industry research.
This role offers the opportunity to conduct high-impact research shaping IIROC’s direction and stimulating debates nationally and internationally, while advancing data and analytic capabilities for regulatory support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic and quantitative analysis development to achieve organizational goals;
Collaborate with industry thought leaders to leverage IIROC’s data for groundbreaking research and reputation enhancement;
Develop and lead a team of experts in capital markets, quantitative analysis, and data science;
Oversee analytics activities including market and dealer trend analysis, regulatory impact studies, and strategic support;
Provide expert counsel and thought leadership internally and externally;
Participate in overall management and strategic planning;
Maintain the annual marketing plan and budget;
Combine innovation with strong computational and statistical skills, along with leadership and strategic abilities;
Possess advanced programming, analytics platforms, and language skills;
Experience with machine learning and AI is highly desirable;
Develop and enforce data collection and analysis standards;
Lead and manage national teams effectively;
Build relationships with stakeholders;
Communicate effectively to diverse audiences;
Publish research and present publicly as assets;
Analyze trends impacting Canadian markets;
Experience with statistical methods and machine learning highly desirable;
Knowledge of equity and debt trading and strategies is a plus.
Preferred Experience / Education
PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or related fields;
Minimum 3 years of senior management experience managing national teams;
Deep understanding of capital markets and securities industry operations.
