Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Operations Manager to drive operational excellence and deliver outstanding customer service as part of our processing location team.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Services, you will lead and develop an operations support team, partnering with business units and stakeholders to optimize processes, deliver on service standards, and support continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll coach and empower staff, implement new procedures, and ensure top-quality customer experiences, all while fostering collaboration across departments.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.

What you will do
  • Lead, motivate, and develop operations support staff in a processing location, ensuring excellent service delivery.
  • Promote and implement process improvements, standardization, and simplification.
  • Introduce new systems and procedures across departments, providing training and support.
  • Monitor workflow, schedules, and production output to meet/exceed quality and service standards.
  • Make staffing decisions, organize personnel, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and coordinate development opportunities for team members.
  • Administer performance evaluations, provide actionable feedback, and support career growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Underwriting and other strategic business units.
  • Manage special projects and act as lead contact for assigned customers/areas.
  • Identify business opportunities and foster cross-functional relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives.
  • Participate in planning, budgeting, and risk assessment for your functional area.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support effective communication of policies and procedures.
Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in operations or underwriting OR
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 7 or more years of experience in operations or underwriting

AND

  • People management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with production/metrics performance environment
  • Experience preparing and managing operational budgets is an asset
  • Insurance certifications or relevant coursework are an advantage
  • Strong office administration, operational, and back office skills (Intermediate proficiency)
  • Knowledge of underwriting processes (Intermediate proficiency)
  • Commitment to regular, predictable attendance and flexibility during peak periods

At Zurich Canada, we are committed to pay equity. We determine compensation based on objective criteria such as skills, experience, and internal equity. The salary range for this position is $103,950 - $129,100. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors like office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate’s skills and experience.
